Dewar’s is spotlighting a 19-year-old Scotch whisky finished in Cabernet Franc red wine casks, timed to coincide with the 126th US Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. The expression, dubbed “The Champion’s Edition,” continues the brand’s role as the official Scotch whisky of the tournament, which takes place over Father’s Day weekend from June 19 to 21. The whisky is on sale at dewars.com for £79.99.
The release draws direct inspiration from the local terrain surrounding Shinnecock Hills in the Hamptons. The Cabernet Franc casks used for the finish were sourced from Wölffer Estate, a renowned winery in the Hamptons region of Long Island, New York.

This bottling continues Dewar’s tradition of innovative cask finishes that define The Champion’s Edition series, with each annual release tied to the host course and its surrounding geography.
The whisky was crafted by Stephanie Macleod, Dewar’s six-time Master Blender. The 19-year maturation period is said to reflect “the timeless ritual of the post-round toast, crafted for gatherings and lasting celebrations.”
Official tasting notes from the brand describe an aroma of “elegant floral notes of violets, complemented by the vibrant fruitiness of blackcurrants.” On the palate, the Cabernet Franc finish imparts “beautifully balanced tasting notes of golden honey, a medley of syrupy red berries, and warm cinnamon.”
Alongside the limited-edition release, Dewar’s is bringing back its signature “Lemon Wedge” cocktail as the official serve of this year’s US Open. The drink is made with Dewar’s 12 Year Old, fresh lemonade, and club soda.
Dewar’s has held the official Scotch whisky partnership with the US Open for several years, using the platform to spotlight its blended Scotch portfolio to a broad consumer audience. The US Open is one of golf’s four major championships, organized annually by the United States Golf Association.
Dewar’s is part of the Bacardi Limited portfolio. The brand’s Champion’s Edition series has become a recurring fixture in the Scotch whisky calendar, pairing each release with a specific cask finish influenced by the championship venue. The 19-year-old expression is positioned as a premium gift option ahead of Father’s Day, targeting both whisky enthusiasts and golf fans.
