The Dalmore has released the third installment of its Cask Curation Series, featuring three rare single malt whiskies aged 24, 34, and 43 years, all finished in Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine casks from French partner Château Mont-Redon. Limited to 150 sets worldwide, the collection is now available.

Dalmore Cask Curation Series: The Red Wine Cask Edition Showcases French Partnership

The Highland distillery collaborated with fourth-generation winemaker Pierre Fabre of Château Mont-Redon to access fresh casks from the renowned Rhône wine region. The same 2023 red wine casks were used to finish all three whiskies, allowing comparison of how the French oak influences different-aged spirits.

“We are truly passionate about the art of cask curation and the flavors that can be created with The Dalmore’s unique spirit when using casks from the finest wineries and bodegas,” said Richard Paterson OBE, Master Distiller at The Dalmore.

“Red wine casks have played an integral role in shaping The Dalmore’s success, so it felt fitting to release some very rare expressions as part of the Cask Curation Series.”

The 24-year-old expression at 40.7% ABV presents official tasting notes of rich honey and sweet citrus on the nose, with red berries and crème brûlée on the palate. The 34-year-old at 40.5% ABV adds subtle floral notes and forest fruits. The eldest, a 43-year-old at 40.3% ABV, offers dried fruit, orange marmalade, and antique leather aromas.

The Red Wine Cask Edition Continues Dalmore’s Innovation Legacy

First launched in 2023, the Cask Curation Series celebrates The Dalmore’s approach to cask maturation dating back to 1868. The series began with a Sherry Edition marking the distillery’s century-long relationship with González Byass, followed by the Port Edition in 2024 featuring casks from Graham’s.

Château Mont-Redon, founded in 1923, operates the largest single property in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation at 100 hectares. Its red wine blend consists primarily of Grenache Noir (57%), Syrah (33%), and Mourvèdre (9%).

The whiskies come in a handcrafted presentation case by Italian luggage makers AB Florence, finished in lapis blue to honor the French winemaking region. All three expressions are presented at natural color and are non-chill filtered.

The collection joins The Dalmore’s existing wine-finished offerings, including Cigar Malt Reserve and King Alexander III, which use various wine cask finishes alongside sherry and port maturation.
