Crazy Cock Indian Single Malt Whisky Madhuca I has arrived at Bengaluru Duty Free, giving travel retail shoppers access to a single malt finished in mahua casks. The expression is being showcased alongside Six Brothers Mahura, a spirit distilled directly from mahua flowers, in a joint presentation exploring the indigenous Indian ingredient.
Mahua is drawn from the flower of the Madhuca longifolia tree. Mahua is a sacred Indian forest tree whose fragrant flowers are eaten, fermented into a traditional spirit, and used in Ayurveda, and is known as India’s Spirit Flower.
Both products are made by South Seas Distilleries. Crazy Cock hails from South Seas Distilleries in Dahanu, Maharashtra, a distillery founded in 1984 to produce malt spirit that, a few years later, began distilling malt whisky in copper pot stills.

READ THE STORYMadhuca I is matured in ex-brandy and ex-bourbon casks before a finishing period in ex-mahura casks. Its profile combines floral and earthy notes with layers of fruit, spice and oak.
The expression has secured notable awards this year. Crazy Cock Indian Single Malt secured six gold medals across the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) UK 2026 and the World Whisky Masters 2026, and was announced as the top-performing Indian single malt at the IWSC on 10 September 2026 in New Delhi.
The whisky is billed as a first of its kind. South Seas Distilleries is showcasing Crazy Cock Indian Single Malt Madhuca, billed as the world’s first single malt whisky finished in mahura casks.
The accompanying Six Brothers Mahura is made from mahua flowers and double-distilled in copper pot stills. According to South Seas, the spirit represents India’s first luxury spirit made entirely from mahura flowers, paying homage to the family’s heritage as the oldest and largest mahura distillers.
The brand describes the product in heritage terms. The six brothers first perfected mahura distillation for the royal families in the early 20th century.
For the official notes from the brand, Six Brothers Mahura presents a sweet, earthy aroma with dried hay followed by fresh green figs, dried apricots, raisins and prunes, and a smooth, clean, spicy finish with sweet raisin.
Together, the two releases position mahua as both a traditional ingredient and a contemporary premium category for the Bengaluru Duty Free shopper.
Travellers can purchase both expressions at Bengaluru Duty Free.
