Boutique Scotch whisky label Clydebuilt has unveiled six new single cask expressions, comprising five single malts and one single grain sourced from distilleries across the Scottish Highlands, Speyside, and the Lowlands.

Clydebuilt is the independent bottling brand of Ardgowan Distillery Company (ADC), which was established in 2017 and reached a major milestone in June 2025 with the completion of its distillery and commencement of single malt production on the Firth of Clyde.

The six new bottlings were personally selected by ADC’s Distillery Manager and Expert Whisky Maker Laura Davies from the company’s inventory of mature stock.

From Speyside, a 2013 Bourbon Barrel from Aberlour Distillery (£120) is limited to just 192 bottles, offering a rich, dessert-like profile of buttery fudge on the nose followed by whipped cream and boiled sweets.

A 2015 Sherry Hogshead from Aultmore Distillery (£65), drawn from a cask that once held Spanish sherry, yields 305 bottles with a distinctly comforting character, evoking fruit scones layered with jam and cream.

Meanwhile, a 2012 Bourbon Hogshead from Benriach Distillery (£95) produces 226 bottles, leaning into sweeter, nostalgic notes of buttercream icing, fruit salad, and classic boiled sweets.

Elsewhere, the range broadens both in style and geography. A 2005 Bourbon Hogshead from Cameronbridge Distillery (£79) stands apart as a 20-year-old single grain, its long maturation delivering flavours of buttered popcorn, heather honey, and peach cobbler finished with cream.

From the Highlands, a 2012 Bourbon Barrel from Glen Garioch Distillery (£85), matured on site at Ardgowan Distillery, results in 237 bottles marked by notes of marzipan, vanilla fudge, and hazelnut praline.

Completing the lineup, a 2015 Sherry Hogshead from Linkwood Distillery (£59) is limited to 332 bottles, combining grassy aromas on the nose with a palate that moves into creamy toffee and gooseberry jam.

All six whiskies were bottled at natural cask strength with no added colouring or chill filtration.

“Working with spirit from different distilleries is a great reminder of how diverse Scotch whisky can be,” said Davies. “There’s a joy in discovering a whisky where the distillery character shines through.”

She added: “Every cask behaves differently, but these six stood out for their balance between distillery DNA and cask influence. They’re honest whiskies, bottled as if you were sampling straight from the cask: at their natural strength and colour, and without undergoing chill filtration.”

Despite challenging conditions across the wider Scotch whisky industry, ADC reaffirmed its commitment to the Clydebuilt brand with a £5 million investment in mature malt whisky stocks in 2025. A further £4 million will be invested this year.

Last September, ADC announced a series of new distribution partnerships for Clydebuilt across key markets in Europe, North America, and Asia, significantly expanding the brand’s global availability. A list of U.K. stockists and international distributors is available on the brand’s website.
