Celebrate World Whisky Day With Cocktails From Glen Scotia & Loch Lomond

Loch Lomond Group is celebrating World Whisky Day by showcasing cocktail serves from its Highland and Campbeltown distilleries, Loch Lomond and Glen Scotia. The two flavor-forward recipes aim to encourage consumers to explore single malt Scotch whisky beyond traditional neat serves.

The first cocktail, called The Turn, is built around Loch Lomond 12 Year Old. Described as a “halfway-style cocktail inspired by the halfway point of a round of golf,” the serve celebrates Loch Lomond Whiskies’ long-standing partnership with The Open Championship.

The recipe calls for 35ml of Loch Lomond 12 Year Old, five mint leaves, three lime wedges, and ginger ale or ginger beer, served over ice in a tall glass.

Official tasting notes from the brand describe the 12 Year Old as delivering “notes of peach and pear, layered with vanilla sweetness and a gentle hint of smoke.”

The second cocktail, Neptune’s Cargo, features Glen Scotia Double Cask Rum Finish. The serve is inspired by The Neptune, “a rum-laden ship seized off Sanda Island in 1769 bringing tropical spirit to Campbeltown’s shores.”

Neptune’s Cargo combines 50ml of Glen Scotia Double Cask Rum Finish with fresh pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, and soda water, garnished with a pineapple leaf.

The Glen Scotia expression is matured in American oak casks before being finished in Guyanese demerara rum barrels. Official tasting notes from the brand cite “notes of cooked sugar, molasses and tropical fruits.”

Loch Lomond, based near Scotland’s Loch Lomond, is known for crafting whisky using both traditional swan-neck and unique straight-neck stills, with casks prepared at its onsite cooperage.

Glen Scotia is one of only three surviving distilleries in Campbeltown, a region once home to more than 30 distilleries and historically known as the whisky capital of the world. The distillery continues to champion centuries-old methods with what the group describes as “its small team of experts in original stillrooms and dunnage warehouses.”

World Whisky Day, held annually on the third Saturday in May, was founded in 2012 and has grown into a global celebration observed in over 150 countries. The event encourages whisky drinkers of all experience levels to explore the category through tastings, events, and serves.
