Buffalo Trace Distillery has unveiled Camp Buffalo Trace, a new immersive summer experience combining bourbon education with overnight luxury camping at its historic Frankfort, Kentucky campus. The experience, open to guests aged 21 and older, will take place on August 29 and September 5, with attendance available exclusively through an online sweepstakes.

The program blends summer camp-inspired activities with hands-on bourbon education across a full day of interactive programming.

Camp Buffalo Trace features four hands-on experiences. The Whiskey Woodcraft Workshop lets guests craft a custom muddler from authentic barrel staves while learning about the role of white oak in bourbon making. The Bung Driving Relay is a cooperage-inspired competition based on a traditional barrel-preparation technique.

Guests will also test their palates in the Blind Tasting & Buffalo Trace Trivia challenge, which combines sensory skills with team trivia on the distillery’s history.

The Single Barrel Challenge invites participants to sample three barrels of the same bourbon at different ages and identify each one, exploring how time, warehouse placement and maturation shape a whiskey’s character.

Select participants will receive an overnight stay in air-conditioned canvas tents featuring indoor and outdoor furnishings, a mini fridge stocked with water and Freddie’s Old-Fashioned Sodas, plush robes and slippers.

“At Buffalo Trace Distillery, we’re always looking for new ways to create memorable moments for our guests, and Camp Buffalo Trace offers an opportunity to celebrate the fun and connection that make summer so special,” said Tyler Adams, general manager at Buffalo Trace Distillery. “By bringing together interactive activities, bourbon education and overnight camping accommodations, we’ve created a one-of-a-kind program designed to help guests make lasting memories at the Distillery. We look forward to welcoming guests to Camp Buffalo Trace!”

The distillery will welcome 200 guests in total. Ninety winners will be selected for the day camp experience across both dates, while 10 winners will receive the day camp plus overnight camping experience.

The sweepstakes begins July 14, 2026, at noon ET and ends July 21, 2026, at 11:59am ET. No purchase is necessary to enter. You can enter the sweepstakes here.

Camp Buffalo Trace joins the distillery’s expanded seasonal lineup, which includes the Great Buffalo Chase Fun Run, the Backyard Sessions Summer Concert Series and the launch of the new Buffalo Trace Distillery Bourbon Lemonade Canned Cocktail.
