Bruichladdich Greener Still 15-Year Scotch Released

Bruichladdich Distillery has released Greener Still, a 15-year-old unpeated single malt scotch whisky created to celebrate 25 years since the Islay distillery’s resurrection. The limited edition will be available via bruichladdich.com and specialist whisky retailers from August 2026 with an RRP of £120 (US$162).

The release completes a trio of special-edition whiskies marking the Hebridean distillery’s 25th anniversary. It joins Bruichladdich Old Skool and Bruichladdich Yellow Submarine III, both released earlier this year.

Greener Still also pays homage to the distillery’s Still Series, comprising Blacker Still, Redder Still and Golder Still. Released between 2006 and 2008, those bottlings were known for their opaque, color-coded bottles and showcased the distillery’s experimental approach to cask maturation.

READ THE STORY

While its predecessors focused on sherry, Bordeaux and bourbon influence, Greener Still shifts the emphasis from cask to field.

The whisky is distilled from a combination of Organic, Biodynamic and Bere barley. The Organic barley is grown on the Scottish mainland without artificial inputs.

The Biodynamic barley comes from carbon-positive Yatesbury House Farm in Wiltshire, England – the distillery’s only exception to its 100% Scottish barley rule. The Bere barley is cultivated on Orkney in partnership with the University of the Highlands and Islands’ Agronomy Institute.

“Bruichladdich Greener Still is the whisky we have been quietly working towards for 25 years,” said Gareth Brown, global marketing director at Bruichladdich Distillery. “It’s a statement of intent that says flavour and environmental responsibility not only can go hand in hand – they must.”

Brown added: “When our founders brought Bruichladdich back to life in 2001, they set out to reconnect land, community and dram. Bruichladdich Greener Still is that journey in one bottling, a single malt Scotch whisky rooted in the soil as much as in our stills.”

The whisky was matured for its entire 15-year life in first-fill bourbon barrels, resting solely at the distillery on Islay. It is bottled at 51.6% ABV, un-chill filtered and with no added color.

Adam Hannett, the distillery’s master blender, described it as “a barley-forward whisky in every sense.”

“The Organic, Biodynamic and Bere barley parcels each bring something different – texture, spice, fruit and this incredible malt character that runs right through the dram,” Hannett said.

Bruichladdich became a certified B Corp as part of its sustainability commitments. According to the official notes from the brand, the nose offers soft lavender and honeysuckle, the palate delivers ripe pear and cinnamon, and the finish is smooth with a lingering saltiness.
