Bowmore 14 Year Old Unveils Kalamkari Gift Pack for Diwali

Bowmore has launched a new Kalamkari-inspired gift pack for its 14-Year-Old single malt in global travel retail, timed for the Diwali festive season. The limited-edition presentation debuts across select duty free locations now, combining the Islay distillery’s heritage with a traditional Indian art form.

“Diwali is an important time of celebration, connection and gifting for millions of people around the world,” said Vanessa Widmann, managing director, Global Travel Retail, Middle East and Africa, at Suntory Global Spirits.

She added: “We are delighted to collaborate with our travel retail partners on this special-edition that celebrates the artistry of Kalamkari and offers travellers a distinctive gift for the festive season.”

The design draws on Kalamkari, a centuries-old Indian art form known for its intricate hand-drawn or block-printed patterns. The name combines kalam, meaning pen, and kari, meaning craftsmanship.

Bowmore positioned the technique as a natural fit with its own whisky-making approach, describing the two as traditions shaped by time and the human hand. The packaging features intricate illustrations, layered textures and shimmering gold detailing throughout.

Central to the artwork is a Kalamkari peacock, selected as a symbol of celebration, protection and good fortune. The pack also reimagines Bowmore’s signature sea dragon in the Kalamkari style.

Additional illustrations depict the distillery and its No.1 Vaults, one of the oldest scotch maturation warehouses, alongside fruits and spices reflecting the character of the liquid inside.

Bottled at 43% ABV, Bowmore 14-Year-Old first launched in 2024 as part of the Bowmore Appellations travel retail exclusive series, a collaboration with leading wine regions. It is matured in American oak ex-Bourbon casks and finished in hand-selected Bordeaux barriques.

According to the official notes from the brand, the whisky offers smoke and orchard fruit aromas, with a berry sweetness drawn from the Bordeaux cask finish.

The brand will support the launch with travel retail activations through the festive period. Delhi Duty Free will host a dedicated high-profile promotion across October and November to coincide with Diwali.

London Heathrow and Bengaluru will stage immersive activations centered on gifting and flavor. These include a chocolate-pairing experience and a chocolate box gift with purchase.

Bowmore is owned by Suntory Global Spirits and ranks as Islay’s oldest licensed distillery, dating to 1779. The Kalamkari presentation is available while stocks last.
