B.R. Distilling Company has released Blue Note Small Batch Wheated Bourbon Blend, a new limited-edition expression from the Memphis-based distillery’s award-winning portfolio. Approximately 2,800 cases of the 101-proof (50.5% ABV) bourbon are now available online and across select U.S. states at a suggested retail price of $44.99 for a 750ml bottle.

The new expression features a mashbill of 70% corn, 21% wheat, and 9% barley. It was distilled in Kentucky, then crafted and aged at B.R. Distilling Company’s facility just north of downtown Memphis.

The bourbon is bottled unfiltered. According to the brand, Memphis’s long, hot summers and cooler evenings force the whiskey deep into the oak, producing a rich flavor profile.

Official tasting notes describe “layers of ripe peach, brooding caramel, and a flash of apricot accented by cinnamon spice.” On the palate, the notes reference “sticky toffee, pastry-like sweetness, and a touch of rustic grain, while a subtle hazelnut note introduces a warm, honey-soaked finish.”

“Wheated bourbon has always offered a softer, rounder expression of the grain, and with this blend we set out to highlight that character at its most vibrant,” said Harris Smith, assistant production manager at B.R. Distilling Company.

“By carefully selecting barrels that balance creamy sweetness with developing spice and oak, we created a bourbon that shows both the approachability of youth and the depth that thoughtful blending can unlock,” Smith added. “The result is a whiskey that’s rich, layered, and unmistakably wheated—designed to showcase just how expressive this style can be.”

Founded in 2014, B.R. Distilling Company is the oldest licensed distillery in Memphis. The company produces five flagship expressions under the Blue Note Bourbon brand, including Juke Joint, Toasted, Uncut, and Straight Rye Whiskey, alongside regular limited releases.

The portfolio has earned significant recognition at major competitions. At the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, both Juke Joint and Toasted received Platinum medals. That distinction is awarded to expressions that achieve Double Gold medals for three consecutive years.

B.R. Distilling Company operates a 110,000-square-foot production facility on Royal Avenue in Memphis, which includes a tasting room open Monday through Friday. Guided tours are available on Thursdays and Fridays for $20 plus tax and fees.

The Small Batch Wheated Bourbon Blend is available for purchase at BlueNoteBourbon.com and in select retail markets across more than 20 U.S. states.
