London’s Bimber Distillery has unveiled six new limited-edition single cask whiskies in its Shoulders of Giants series, with three releases each for the UK and German markets, celebrating artistic and engineering pioneers.
Previous editions of the Shoulders of Giants series paid tribute to historical figures such as Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, Marie Curie, and William Shakespeare.
Bimber Honors Artistic Legends with UK Releases
The UK-exclusive bottles pay tribute to three renowned artists through carefully selected cask finishes.
Vincent — The Dreamer is matured in Fino Sherry casks, honoring Vincent van Gogh with 335 bottles at 56.5% ABV. According to official tasting notes, this expression offers “toffee, vanilla, pineapple, orange peel and sweet oak.”
Claude — The Impressionist celebrates Claude Monet through ex-Bourbon maturation, producing 279 bottles at 57% ABV. The whisky reveals “delicate layers of lemon drizzle cake, heather honey, sultanas, a subtle hint of spiced baked apples, and white pepper,” according to the distillery’s tasting notes.
Leonardo — The Visionary, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci, spent time in Palo Cortado casks. This 340-bottle release at 57.3% ABV delivers “rich notes of sherry-steeped dried fruit, dark chocolate, maraschino cherries, ground black pepper, and warm wood spice.”
Bimber Shoulders of Giants Celebrates German Engineering Pioneers
The German market also receives three exclusive releases honoring engineering innovators.
Karl — The Inventor, celebrating automobile pioneer Karl Benz, offers 258 bottles from American Oak ex-Bourbon casks at 58% ABV. Official notes describe “butterscotch, orange peel, fudge, mixed spice, and tobacco leaf.”
Rudolf — The Engineer pays tribute to diesel engine developer Rudolf Diesel with 293 bottles from Fino Sherry casks at 57.6% ABV. The whisky presents “sherry steeped fruits, dark chocolate, vanilla, wood spice, and a whisp of smoke.”
Nicolaus — The Inventor honors engine technology pioneer Nicolaus Otto through Oloroso Sherry maturation, yielding 297 bottles at 57.9% ABV with notes of “dried fruits, caramel, honeycomb, golden syrup, and balsamic vinegar.”
Steve Rush, Head of Marketing and Communications at Bimber Distillery, commented: “At Bimber, we believe that true artistry knows no bounds. Just as Vincent van Gogh poured passion into every brushstroke, Monet revolutionized our perception of light, and Leonardo da Vinci imagined the impossible, engineering pioneers Karl Benz, Rudolf Diesel, and Nicolaus Otto redefined motion through innovation.”
“At Bimber, we craft our whisky with that same spirit of inventive precision and dedication. These latest ‘Shoulders of Giants’ releases are a testament to the craftsmanship behind our fruit-forward single malt London whisky – and to the quality and variety of the casks we use.”
All releases are bottled at natural cask strength and feature biographical artwork celebrating each historical figure. The distillery employs traditional production methods, including single farm barley, seven-day open-topped fermentation, and directly fired copper pot stills.
The UK editions will be available through Bimber’s online shop from August 1, 2025, priced at £95 each. German releases will be distributed exclusively through Kirsch Import very soon.
