Beyoncé has reportedly acquired a controlling stake in her premium rye whisky brand SirDavis from her venture partner, LVMH’s Moët Hennessy. The luxury giant confirmed the deal to multiple press outlets on Monday (August 10).

SirDavis launched in September 2024 as a partnership between Beyoncé and Moët Hennessy. The American-made whisky was inspired by the legacy of Beyoncé’s paternal great-grandfather, a successful Prohibition-era moonshine maker.

Terms of the acquisition, including the size of the controlling stake and the financial value of the deal, have not been disclosed.

The move comes amid a rise in celebrity-backed whisky and spirits brands.

In 2018, Bob Dylan launched the whiskey brand Heaven’s Door in partnership with Marc Bushala, co-founder of Angel’s Envy bourbon.

A$AP Rocky followed in 2022 with Mercer + Prince, a Canadian whisky developed alongside Global Brand Equities and E. & J. Gallo. The whisky was named for the rapper’s favorite cross streets in his native New York City.

Kendall Jenner owns the 818 Tequila brand with Sazerac holding a minority stake. Formula One driver Jenson Button, meanwhile, is the face of Coachbuilt whisky and worked in the blending room to create the 18-year-old expression launched in 2024 in collaboration with Williams.

The acquisition gives Beyoncé greater creative and commercial control over the brand’s future direction.
