Barrell Craft Spirits Launches Barrell Decade Canadian Blend

A Louisville-based independent blender has unveiled a new premium expression combining Canadian whiskies distilled across an entire decade and finished in European casks.

Barrell Craft Spirits launched Barrell Decade on July 23, 2025, marking the company’s latest addition to its Black Label Series. The release blends Canadian whiskies distilled each year from 1995 to 2005, with the liquid ranging from 20 to 30 years old.

The whiskey underwent secondary maturation in Spanish brandy and Hungarian oak casks before being bottled at a bold 142.7 proof (71.35% ABV). The expression retails for $199 per 750ml bottle and is available through the company’s website and select retailers.

Barrell Decade Showcases Advanced Blending Techniques

By combining whiskeys from 11 consecutive years of production, the blend aims to capture evolving distillation characteristics across an entire decade.

“Expert whiskey blending is about vision and bringing together the best qualities of each of these casks. Barrell Decade represents a full ‘Decade’ of distillation. This is whiskey blending at its finest which was well worth the wait,” said BCS Founder Joe Beatrice.

The secondary maturation in Spanish brandy and Hungarian oak casks adds additional complexity to the aged Canadian base spirits, which were blended and bottled in Kentucky. This finishing technique has become increasingly popular among craft whiskey producers seeking to differentiate their products in a competitive market.
