Bärenjäger has introduced Honey Bourbon Liqueur, a new expression that combines the brand’s centuries-old German honey liqueur recipe with premium bourbon. The product carries a suggested retail price of $34.99 and is bottled at 35% ABV.

The liqueur contains 225 grams of 100% natural honey per bottle, a hallmark of the Bärenjäger range. It is based on an 18th-century German recipe that has been adapted to incorporate bourbon whiskey.

Official tasting notes from the brand describe rich notes of vanilla, oak, and spice blended with the warmth of honey, resulting in a liqueur that is “both robust and refined.”

The brand suggests serving the expression neat, over ice, or in cocktails. Recommended serves include a Honey Old Fashioned, a German Mule made with ginger beer and lime, a Whiskey Sour incorporating egg white and Angostura bitters, and a Honey Bourbon Lemonade.

Bärenjäger’s origins trace back to 18th-century Germany, where the original honey blend was crafted as a lure for bears in the country’s rugged forests. The name itself translates from German as “bear hunter.” Over time, hunters discovered the liquid was as enjoyable to drink as it was effective as bait, and it evolved into a cordial savored around campfires before becoming a commercially produced liqueur.

The Honey Bourbon Liqueur marks an expansion of the Bärenjäger portfolio beyond its flagship honey liqueur, positioning the brand at the intersection of two major spirits categories. The honey liqueur segment has seen steady growth in recent years, driven by consumer interest in naturally sweetened and flavor-forward spirits. Bourbon-based liqueurs, in particular, have gained traction as American whiskey continues to perform strongly in global markets.

The launch also taps into the enduring popularity of the Old Fashioned cocktail, which remains one of the most ordered drinks in bars worldwide, according to multiple industry surveys. By offering a honey-bourbon liqueur that simplifies the build of classic whiskey cocktails, Bärenjäger targets both on-trade bartenders seeking efficiency and home mixologists looking for accessible serves.

Bärenjäger Honey Bourbon Liqueur is available now through the brand’s existing distribution network in the United States.
