Aberargie Distillery has launched its inaugural single malt Scotch whisky, marking the Morrison family’s return to distilling after more than three decades. The Perthshire-based distillery’s first release represents a barley-to-bottle whisky crafted entirely on the family’s 300-acre farm.
The inaugural release will be available globally at specialist whisky retailers from 3 March 2026, priced at £65 (US$81).

The first casks were filled in 2017, making this debut a significant milestone for one of Scotland’s longest-established whisky dynasties.
The whisky features a mash bill of 52% Golden Promise and 48% Laureate barley grown on family farms. Maturation took place in a combination of first-fill bourbon and first-fill sherry casks. Bottled at 48.2% ABV, the expression is non-chill-filtered and contains no added color.
Official tasting notes from the brand describe “rich and layered notes of baked apple and golden pastry, balanced by succulent sultanas and prunes with a lingering herbal finish.”
“Our first casks were laid down in 2017, and we’ve been patiently waiting for our whisky to be ready,” said Niel Hendriksz, managing director of Aberargie Distillery.
“After nearly a decade, the moment feels right to share Aberargie Single Malt Inaugural with the world. It’s a true barley-to-bottle single malt that honours the Morrison family’s distilling heritage while setting a clear direction for the future.”
The distillery sits on the border between Scotland’s Highland and Lowland regions. Its location makes stylistic classification difficult, with the whisky shaped by both its farm setting and stillhouse operations.
Packaging was developed in partnership with Kingdom & Sparrow, featuring a bespoke glass bottle with embossed lettering created by Verallia UK. The design includes a leather neck tag commemorating the release. A horizon line in verdant green runs across the label and carton, with gold accents evoking the surrounding farmland.
As an independent family operation, Aberargie manages every production stage on-site, from growing barley through distilling, warehousing, and bottling.
The Morrison family previously operated several distilleries in Scotland before exiting the industry in the early 1990s. Their return with Aberargie represents a new chapter in the family’s whisky legacy.
