Every Award-Winning Indian Whisky From The International Wine & Spirits Competition 2026

Few categories have reshaped the whisky world as quickly as Indian single malt. Once overlooked, distilleries like Amrut and Paul John have turned India into one of the most exciting whisky-producing nations on earth, where the hot climate accelerates maturation and yields rich, intense spirits that increasingly outpace their older Scotch and Irish counterparts on the global stage. The IWSC is well placed to judge that rise.

Founded in 1969 by wine chemist Anton Massel on the principle of testing as well as tasting every entry, the competition assesses spirits blind in numbered glasses. Scores fall into Bronze (85-89), Silver (90-94), Gold (95-97) and Gold Outstanding (98-100).
