England is one of the most exciting countries in the broad ‘world whisky’ category, with innovations in production and stand-out visitor experiences drawing attention from its more famous whisky-making neighbour to the north.
There are now more than 70 active whisky distilleries in England. The geographical indication (GI) proposal for ‘English whisky’ is still in the works, but once approved, it stands to give the category a clear flag to fly at home and abroad.

With the growing number of distilleries out there, and the amount of mature spirit coming to market, there’s an ever-greater number of new English whiskies hitting the shelves. To help you stay up to date, The Whiskey Wash is publishing a monthly round-up of new English whisky releases.
This list includes core range and limited edition whiskies, as well as some single cask releases, released between mid-June and mid-July 2026. Data is sourced from Longshot Ventures’ Craft Spirits Reports.

Bimber — Re-charred Oak Casks Batch No. 2
This small-batch single malt from London-based Bimber was produced from a vatting of heavily re-charred American oak casks. The distillery’s on-site cooper hand-charred a select batch of casks to level 4 char (commonly known as ‘alligator char’, for the cracked surface it creates on the staves). The run of 1,140 bottles has sold out online, but indications from Bimber suggest this will be a recurring release, so keep an eye out for Batch No. 3.
Cooper King x Spirit of Yorkshire — Many Hands
This blended malt whisky is claimed as the first open collaboration between two English distilleries. It combines malt spirits from Spirit of Yorkshire and Cooper King, which were matured in sibling casks at Cooper King’s site near York. Each of the 1,922 bottles is individually numbered. Bottled at 48% ABV, it’s available via Cooper King’s website priced at £95.

READ THE STORYCotswolds — Hearts & Crafts 7 Madeira Cask
This is the latest instalment in the Cotswolds Distillery’s annual Hearts & Crafts series, celebrating the Arts & Crafts movement that flourished in its home region in the late 19th century. The 10-year-old single malt whisky was fully matured in American oak Madeira casks. A total of 1,200 bottles were released, making it one of the rarest Hearts & Crafts releases to date. It’s retailing for £100 through Cotswolds’ online shop.
Cotswolds — 12th Birthday Release
A single cask single malt released to mark the distillery’s 12th anniversary. The whisky was filled to cask in 2017, fully matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel, and bottled at 50% ABV. Like all Cotswolds whiskies, it was produced from 100% floor-malted barley. Only 182 bottles will be available, including through Cotswolds’ website.
The Lakes — The Chocolatier
The latest single malt offering from one of England’s more premium distilleries. Inspired by its namesake artisan, The Chocolatier is matured in a combination of European and American oak sherry casks, bourbon barrels and port casks. Bottled at 51% ABV, this limited edition is available via The Lakes’ online shop.
Spirit of Yorkshire — Filey Bay 10th Anniversary
Spirit of Yorkshire is marking a decade of distilling with a special release in its Filey Bay single malt whisky range. The 10th Anniversary edition (49.9% ABV) comprises spirit from a number of ex-bourbon and ex-Madeira casks filled at the distillery from its inception to 2023, including some liquid from Cask 001, filled in June 2016. A limited run of 2,016 bottles has been released, retailing on the distillery website for £90.
Spirit of Yorkshire — Filey Bay Heritage
This single malt whisky marries bourbon and sherry cask-matured spirit and is bottled at 46.5% ABV. Originally produced as an English Heritage exclusive, on sale at select sites nationally, it’s now on general sale through Spirit of Yorkshire’s online shop — but it’s still supporting English Heritage, with every bottle purchased contributing to the organisation’s conservation work.
