Comments:
Revisiting this classic has been a surprising exercise. Chivas Regal 12 Year Old still stands up by itself as a more than solid introductory sipper. Incredibly well balanced and having a lot more body than I remember. That being said, this expression has been around for a long time and is often overlooked in newer markets. Undoubtedly, the introduction of Chivas Regal Extra (more emphasis on ex-sherry casks) and the addition of Chivas Regal Mizunara in certain countries has led to it being lost. In a tumultuous year like 2020, maybe its time to revisit a classic such as the Chivas Regal 12 Year Old. A healthy pour and some highly carbonated sparkling water with a lemon twist may just pleasantly surprise even the most jaded whisky critic.
