cubocansherryScotland’s Tomatin distillery continues to play on the legend of the Cù Bòcan creature of myth in the remote Highlands with the announced release of a third whisky under that name. A very limited “Sherry Edition” joins the regular offering as well as a rare vintage bottling.

The Tomatin Cù Bòcan Sherry Edition, of which just 6,000 bottles are planned, draws on the fact the regular Cù Bòcan was a mix of sherry, virgin oak and bourbon casks. It is the first of three planned limited editions which each highlight the flavors derived from each cask type.

Bottled at 46% ABV and pricing for around $80, the Sherry Edition is non-chill filtered. Tasting note from the distillery are below for your consideration.

Nose – Hints of smoke, sweet paprika, dried fruits and treacle toffee alongside dominant wood, custard and malty notes.

Mouth – Rich and fruity, butter toffee and almonds. Dark chocolate, coffee, biscuit, roasted chestnuts.

Finish – Slowly warming with an incredible sweetness and the light smoke becoming drier in time.
