Talisker distillery is known for being the only of its kind on the Scottish Isle of Skye. Established in 1830, it eventually came to be part of large spirits giant Diageo’s holdings. One of its offerings is known as Storm, and now word is this blended single malt Scotch is blowing onto American shores for around $66 per 750 ml bottle.
Said not to have a specific age statement, what is known about Talisker Storm is that each whiskey used in it was matured in both rejuvenated and refill oak casks for a minimum of three years. Once matured, they were blended together in such a way so as to allow for “greater flexibility to introduce a range of flavors to the final product based on the maturity, rather than age.”
Overall, Storm, which was bottled at 45.8% ABV, is described as being “more intense and smoky, with enhanced maritime notes that smoothly balance Talisker’s signature warm sweetness.” Like other Scotch, the distillery suggests this whiskey is “best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of distilled water to unlock the elegant balance of sweetness, smoke and salt evident through the warm finish.”
