It goes without saying that Johnnie Walker whisky is a very popular liquid offering in its various forms, commanding what’s said to be global annual sales of over 130 million bottles. Owned by Diageo, the Scotch brand recently turned to noted actor Jude Law to shoot a roughly six and a half minute long commercial short film highlighting in a rather whimsical way life revolving around its upper end Blue Label blend.

Jude Law stars in the latest film for JOHNNIE WALKER BLUE LABEL

Shot in the British Virgin Islands, Caribbean and London the film, according to those behind it, is called “The Gentleman’s Wager” and brings together Law and actor Giancarlo Giannini into a story line directed by British director Jake Scott. Law and Giannini’s characters are sipping some Blue Label whisky on a so called “truly unique hand-crafted boat” as they float care free in warm tropical waters. Law states to Giannini that “he wants to buy the boat, but it is not for sale and the only way he can get it, is by putting on a truly unique performance.”

LawJohnnie2Blue Label is described as being a blend of rare whiskies that herald from only 1 in 10,000 casks. It is presented in individually numbered bottles and has official tasting notes indicating “a mellow, rounded nose, with a dry smokiness mixing with raisin sweetness. It is best savoured with the palate cleansed and cooled by iced water. One sip reveals a velvety mouth-feel, then an explosion of flavour. At once you’ll discover hazelnuts, honey, rose petals, sherry and oranges. Subsequent sips reward you with more hidden secrets like kumquats, wispy aromatic smoke, sandalwood, tobacco, and dark chocolate.”
