As 2013 begins to wind down, not all distilleries are taking a break for the holidays in terms of new releases. One of these is the Scottish Lowlands based Auchentoshan distillery, which is sending exclusively into travel retail channels a rare limited edition of its 1975, triple distilled single malt whisky.
This is the second time a 1975 offering has been made available, with a first batch being released in the domestic market back in 2011, but this time it was matured for an extra year before being bottled. What results is the following tasting notes profile:

- To the nose: Ripe, sun-drenched fruits: pears, figs and honeydew melon.
- To the palate: Papaya and pink grapefruit, with baked pineapple and almond cake.
- The finish: Subtle notes of white grapes, elderflower & almonds.
The 81.5 percent ABV whisky is presented in a premium slate grey double fronted box, and once this box is opened one is greeted with design using barrel staves. The date of bottling is written on each of the bottles.
