Launched in August of this year was Hemingway Whiskey Company’s flagship whiskey, Hemingway Rye Whiskey Signature Edition. Building upon eight generations of family-made Kentucky whiskey heritage, the Hemingway, Groth, and Call families have come together to launch this expression, which draws its inspiration from legendary American author, journalist, and storyteller, Ernest Hemingway.
Bottled at 102 proof, Hemingway Rye Whiskey Signature Edition is a blend of 90% six-year-old Indiana straight rye whiskey and 10% four-year-old Kentucky straight rye whiskey all of which are finished in rum-seasoned Oloroso Sherry Casks. The brand’s official tasting notes suggest ryegrass, vanilla, raspberry, raisins, baking spices and oak wood on the nose while the palate offers notes of orange, dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, clove and nutmeg.
In creating Hemingway Rye Whiskey Signature Edition, the family of Ernest Hemingway has collaborated with Hemingway Whiskey Company, which brings eight generations of whiskey making experience to the production of this whiskey expression. The Call family is represented by seventh-generation Master Distiller Ron Call along with his two sons, Call Family Ambassador Clayton and eighth-generation Master Distiller Jacob. The Call family’s deep roots in American whiskey-making started in the late 1700s when Samuel Call started distilling whiskey on his Kentucky farm.
Representing the Groth family is Hemingway Whiskey Company Founder and Leader Steve Groth and his two sons, Kyle, who brings his business strategy experience to the brand and Paul, who handles the creative side through content creation and writing. Steve Groth also co-founded and launched Angel’s Envy Bourbon prior to bringing the Hemingway Whiskey Company brand to life.

It has the traditional rye spice notes but because it was finished in my dad’s rum-seasoned Oloroso Sherry casks, it has just the right sweetness to soften the spice. This is a whiskey we were all extremely proud to put our signatures on.”
Hemingway Rye Whiskey Signature Edition is available in 750ml bottles for an MSRP of $79.99 at retailers in Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee, as well new states for the brand including California, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina, and Texas.
