In late December of 2022, Booker’s Bourbon released Booker’s Batch 2022-04 “Pinkie’s Batch”, the fourth whiskey expression in their Booker’s Bourbon 2022 Collection series. The previous 2022 releases from Booker’s Bourbon include 2022-01 “Ronnie’s Batch”, 2022-02 “The Lumberyard Batch”, and 2022-03 Kentucky Tea Batch”.
Founded by Jacob Beam in 1795, the James B. Beam Distilling Co. is located in Clermont, Kentucky. Despite being interrupted by Prohibition, the Jim Beam brand has been in business ever since, earning the seven generation whiskey industry family the title of “America’s First Family of Bourbon.”
Booker’s Batch 2022-4 “Pinkie’s Batch” is named in honor of Jim Beam Master Distiller Fred Noe’s grandfather, Frederick Booker Noe. Fred’s father, Booker Noe II, is known for coining the term “small batch” in the 1990s to categorize a series of four boutique bourbons that were set to be released by the Jim Beam brand.
Booker, who passed away in 2004, was also the grandson of Jim Beam, and from 1960-1992 he worked as the Master Distiller at the Jim Beam Distillery where Booker’s Bourbon has been made ever since the 1987 release of his namesake bourbon. Upon Booker’s retirement from the whiskey industry his single request to his son was, “Fred, make sure they don’t mess with my Booker’s.”
Booker’s Batch 2022-04 “Pinkie’s Batch” is a limited release Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Bottled at 122.4 proof, it’s aged for 6 years, 10 months, and 10 days. According to the brand’s tasting notes, the aroma is slightly silky with robust vanilla and caramel notes while the palate offers deep and complex flavors of vanilla, nuts and oak. It’s available nationwide but in limited quantities.
