Glengoyne Distillery, the Highland single malt maker, recently launched their 15 Year Old whisky in the U.S.
A statement from the Scotch brand noted that the 15 Year Old is designed to celebrate the contrast and harmony within its sherry and bourbon casks. The new expression will be a permanent staple of their core collection.
The distiller’s notes explain that the new 15 Year Old marries whiskies matured in bourbon and sherry casks, and brings sweet, dark, orchard fruits from the former and oaky spice and vanilla from the latter.
The whisky has a natural light amber hue and a bouquet of flavors on the nose, such as malt flour, fresh hay, dried fruits, citrus and rosehip.
On the palate are hints of tropical fruit, then cinnamon, vanilla and apple like that of a baked apple pie. A dry finish is complemented by gentle spice and lingering oak.
“Glengoyne’s spirit spends three times as long in its stills than other whiskies, and this creates a distinctively light, smooth and fruity spirit style,” said Katy Muggeridge, brand director at Glengoyne. “For the 15 Year Old, we wanted to showcase Glengoyne’s signature style brought to maturity in absolute balance from the combination of both bourbon and sherry casks.”
Glengoyne 15 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky clocks in at 43% ABV, and it’s available in select retail shops for a suggested retail price of $129.99.
