Edrington-owned scotch whisky brand, The Glenrothes, has announced the addition of a 15 Year Old to its permanent portfolio of single malts. The 15 joins The 18 and The 25 in the brand’s prestigious core range.

Those wishing buy a bottle can register their interest on The Glenrothes website. Alternatively, many bottles have already made their way to retail priced at around £99. The bottle is currently in stock at Master of Malt, The Whisky Exchange, and The Whisky Shop.

The Making Of The Glenrothes 15 Year Old

The Glenrothes 15 Year Old showcases the distillery’s balance of spirit character and maturation. Aged exclusively in European oak sherry-seasoned casks, it delivers a flavor profile featuring sweet spice and a distinctive boldness. Throughout the 15 year maturation process, each cask is regularly assessed by Laura Rampling, Master Whisky Maker, who selects only those that meet the quality standards required for this expression.

The 15 Year Old is bottled in the brand’s signature distillery design and packaged in a dual-layered cylinder. The packaging features lichen green accents, inspired by the natural surroundings of The Glenrothes Estate in Scotland’s Highland region.

Laura Rampling, Master Whisky Maker at The Glenrothes, said: “Whilst The Glenrothes spirit is inherently delicate in style, it does not get overwhelmed by the bolder flavours created by maturation in first-fill European oak casks. It is this precise and counterintuitive marriage of the delicate and the bold that makes this 15 year old whisky unique, bringing sweet fruit and bright spice together in a deliciously unexpected way.”

Tasting Notes

Courtesy of The Glenrothes:

Nose: Dark brown sugar, baked orchard fruits and bright spice – cinnamon, allspice and star anise.  Sweet and creamy hazelnut praline, complemented by the tang of candied orange peel and a touch of maple syrup.  A backbone of toasted oak and soft worn leather adds depth and complexity.

Finish: Rich, sweet and silky with lingering bright spice.”
