New Release Register: Glenturret, Laphroaig, & Royal Salute

Glenturret honors the Jaguar C-type, Laphroaig gives its packaging some wellie, and Royal Salute rings in the Lunar New Year in this week’s new releases

Laphroaig 10 Year Old “Give Them Some Wellie”

In a nod to tradition and heritage, Laphroaig has unveiled a limited edition packaging design for its classic Scotch whisky. The revamped packaging is inspired by the Wellington boot, an iconic symbol of the distillery’s rich history.

The packaging was designed by Butterfly Cannon design agency, which has a focus on creating sustainable packaging solutions.

The Wellington boot has long been associated with Laphroaig due to its practicality in the wet and muddy conditions of the Islay region where the distillery is located. This emblematic footwear is often worn by the distillery workers, making it a fitting symbol for the brand’s rugged, hardworking ethos.

The wellie-boot bag that comes with the Laphroaig 10 Year Old is reusable and is designed to carry everything from outdoor gear to water bottles. You might even use it to carry around your next bottle of Laphroaig.

This re-packaging initiative is an homage to the “Friends of Laphroaig” – those who are members of Laphroaig’s online membership program. Being a member offers many perks, including points on purchases to be traded in for discounts, early access to new releases, and even a square foot of Islay.

Glenturret x Jaguar C-type

The Glenturret has unveiled a special whisky to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the C-type Jaguar. The whisky, named Glenturret x Jaguar C-type, will be sold exclusively through the Glenturret website. Limited to just 220 70cl bottles, each bottle is priced at £2,200.

The Jaguar C-type, which made a significant impact on motorsport history in 1953, is credited with the introduction of disk brakes. It achieved impressive results in races, including breaking the average speed barrier of 100mph.

To honor this milestone, two exclusive, one-off C-type continuations, each named ’70-Edition’, have also been revealed by Jaguar Classic as part of the C-type continuation program.

The Glenturret’s managing director, John Laurie, shared that the world of classic cars is characterized by “passion, nostalgia, and experience”, much like the world of single malt scotch.

The limited-edition whisky was drawn from a selection of five casks, showing the influence of Oloroso sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads. With a minimum age of 32 years, it was bottled at 42.3% ABV.

This is the second collaboration between The Glenturret and Jaguar, with the Jaguar x Glenturret E-type 60th Anniversary being released in 2021.
