New ‘Little Book of Whiskey Cocktails’ Out Now

Author and professional bartender, Bryan Paiement, set out to share the stories of the whiskey-making world and recipes for enthusiasts of all kinds. Now available on bookshelves is The Little Book of Whiskey Cocktails.

Paiement is a professional bartender at the Dunraven Restaurant in Estes Park, Colorado, as well as the author of Sports Bar: Cocktails and Sports Trivia.

In a prepared statement, Paiement explained that he takes a practical approach to exploring the various ways in which whiskey can be mixed and enjoyed. In his new book, being published by University Press of Kentucky, he starts with a brief history of whiskey.

Paiement answers the burning questions that whiskey aficionados want answered, such as “What is the difference between ‘whiskey’ and ‘whisky’? Does bourbon have to come from Kentucky? How many times does Irish whiskey need to be distilled?”

His new book features 40 classic whiskey cocktail recipes and 10 original recipes in this pocket-sized reader. Each curated recipe is introduced with details on the cocktail’s origins and features bartenders’ tips for mixing the perfect concoction.

Paiement includes award-winning recipes such as the Paper Plane, time-tested classics the Old Fashioned and the Rusty Nail, and handcrafted originals such as the Scotch Smash.

“Paiement pays homage to many of the classic whiskey cocktails and creates new drinks that enthusiasts will love,” said fellow author Albert W. A. Schmid, known for his Kentucky Bourbon Cookbook. “This short book is filled with history and lore that surrounds many of the beverages and with the author’s personal stories related to cocktail creation. This book is a must for anyone passionate about whiskey cocktails.”
