Tasting Notes

About:

Appearance:
Gorgeous caramel color with strong legs that coat the inside of a glass.
Nose:
Slightly floral, sweet, hard caramel candy, and a bit of spice with a very healthy amount of oak.
Palate:
Lost Prophet has a glorious mouth feel that exudes quality. The experience is round, velvety, and full. The taste is not overly sweet and countered well by a clove-like spice with the presence of cinnamon within the caramel flavor. There is a respectable amount of oak that is well-balanced for having spent such a prolonged period of time in contact with wood. Finish: Lovely burn that I did not expect from a 22 year old bourbon. The finish capped off the drink in a warm and friendly way. This is a bourbon to be savored slowly on a cool autumn evening. In short, I truly enjoyed this bourbon. Perhaps there is no greater indicator of enjoyment as how quickly one reaches to refresh a glass. I found myself wanting more of this whiskey immediately each and every time I sat down to acquaint myself with it. As far as my rating is concerned, supremely enjoyable Orphan Barrel Lost Prophet 22-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey deserves every bit of my score of 92.
