Tasting Notes

About:

Batch A121. 114.8 proof (varies by batch). Made from a mingling of 6-8 year old bourbon that is bottled uncut and without chill filtration. Wheated bourbon mashbill. 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. $50.
Appearance:
Chestnut sherry in color. The bottle is a fun keyhole shape.
Nose:
Touch of vanilla, brown sugar, and florals. Pleasant and sweet aromas like a typical bourbon or baked goods.
Palate:
Spicy and warm. Heavy on solvent, leather, and pepper. There are undertones of hazelnut, burnt caramel and molasses with a lingering burnt orange at the back of the throat.
Finish:
Comments:
Larceny comes on strong with its hot and spicy palate. Flavor and warmth linger on the tongue and proceeds to the back of the throat. Although I tried this one neat, I feel Larceny Barrel Proof is more drinkable with a touch of water or an ice cube. It also makes a great mixer.rnrnIf you’re a fan of wheated bourbons this makes a worthy, affordable option. This is only the second year that Larceny Barrel Proof has been an option. Larceny itself debuted in 2012 and is still available as a 92 proof option if barrel proof is not your thing.
