Everybody seems to have a bourbon bottling somehow tied to the Kentucky Derby, and that now includes Four Roses, which recently announced its new commemorative Derby Festival Poster Special Selection Single Barrel Bourbon. It looks to be available just in the Kentucky area. The Four Roses Derby Festival Poster Special Selection Single Barrel Bourbon, according to the distillery, was selected by a group of individuals who participated in a barrel tasting and selection at the Four Roses’ Warehouse and Bottling Facility in December to choose their favorite barrel. Those doing the selection included representatives from the Kentucky Derby Festival, along with Four Roses Master Distiller, Brent Elliott.
With unanimous votes all around, it is said, the Four Roses barrel coded SN 47-5 M was selected. The bourbon chosen was bottled and specially labeled to include a miniature image of this year’s Festival poster, which was designed by Ron Jasin.

The Derby Festival, for those unfamiliar with it, runs from April 20 through May 5, just proceeding the actual horse race itself. It is supported by 4,000 volunteers, 400 businesses and civic groups, Pegasus Pin sponsorships, and event participation. This involvement has made the Festival the largest single attended event in Kentucky, and reportedly one of the leading community celebrations in the world.
