In a rare reverse action seen these days in the craft whiskey world, Catoctin Creek Distilling Company announced it has reacquired the interest held in their Purcellville, Virginia-based business from Constellation Brands. It is said both Catoctin Creek and Constellation agreed that now is the ideal time for the original owners to reclaim the Constellation-owned share of the company in order to focus their full attention on “craft innovation, new customer experiences, and additional product lines.”
During this seven year relationship, Constellation’s investment helped Catoctin Creek build substantial improvements in its Virginia-based distillery, increasing production and warehouse capacity, improving supply chain efficiency, and expanding distribution in the U.S.

“We greatly appreciate the support and resources that [Constellation] provided us during this time together,” said Scott Harris, Founder and General Manager, in a prepared statement, “and I am very excited about what the future holds.”
In October, Catoctin Creek recently released their newest product in five years, Catoctin Creek Hot Honey Rye, which is rolling out in markets across the United States.
Catoctin Creek Distilling Company, for those unfamiliar with it, was founded by Scott and Becky Harris in 2009. Described as being “inspired by the history and craft of Virginia,” Catoctin Creek became the first legal distillery since Prohibition in Purcellville, Virginia’s Loudoun County. The independent craft distillery is home to a popular Virginia whiskey, Roundstone Rye, which has been presented gold medals across the globe. The distillery noted it “prides itself on making rye whisky, gin, and seasonal brandy from local grains and fruits, with spirits available in 26 states and 2 continents.” For more information visit CatoctinCreek.com.
