Sagamore Spirit recently debuted a new rye whiskey after teaming up “with four distinct content creators to do one thing: create a blend and bottle of whiskey together, to be sold to their followers (and beyond). ”
The new Sagamore Spirit Creator’s Cask, according to those behind it, is a Maryland-style blend of 7-year-old straight rye whiskies (a single barrel of high-rye blended with a low-rye mash bill). In putting it together it is said that four influencers rom the world of whiskey, cocktails, beer and beyond — WhiskyNomad, TheBrewBrotha, TheEducatedBarFly, and ThatOneDudeRyan – paid “a special visit to the Sagamore Spirit distillery and farm, where they sat down in the brand’s private aging barn to select a liquid. Turns out, the process wasn’t as easy as one might assume – for finding a blend that appeals to each of the creator’s unique perspectives (and audiences) took a lot of time, consideration and – of course – some lively debate.”
To purchase a bottle, buyers simply need to visit Reserve Bar, where it can be shipped nationwide pending restrictions on the site. To add a personal touch to this limited edition release, each bottle is also hand-signed by one of the four creators.
Official tasting notes for Creator’s Cask are below.
- Aroma: “On the nose, you’ll find cab franc, blackcurrants, dried figs, cherry pie, Fuji apple, mint and dill.” – WhiskyNomad
- Palate: “The good warm sugar maple, cinnamon and vanilla notes you’ll find in a bourbon, but which then dissolve to a nice bit of malt and spice on the back palate indicative of American Ryes” – TheEducatedBarfly
- Finish: “A medium to long finish with baking spices,” – WhiskyNomad
