Nelson’s Green Brier Brings Back Nelson Brothers Honey Cask

Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery recently announced the return of their Nelson Brothers Honey Cask Finish whiskey.

They’re bringing the spirit back with a launch on Saturday, May 27th, at the whisky maker’s Marathon Village distillery in Nashville. A special event is planned offering cocktails, food trucks and merchandise for purchase.

“The Honey Cask Finish is a crowd favorite, and we look forward to bringing it back each year,” said Andy Nelson, co-founder of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery. “This product is unique because the bourbon isn’t flavored with a syrup or liqueur, but aged in a cask-finished barrel coated in locally sourced honey to add a natural quality.”

A statement from the distiller went on to explain that Nelson Brothers Honey Cask Finish is the result of Nelson’s Brothers barrels coated in TruBee Honey’s wildflower honey. The sticky stuff was curated in Arrington, Tennessee.

The distiller’s notes show that the bourbon was added back to the honey-finished barrels for eight months to create the beloved expression.

Nelson Brothers Honey Cask clocks in at 107.2 proof and comes in a 750 mL bottle. The distiller’s notes show that on the nose, the whiskey offers aromas and tastes of wildflower, honeysuckle and peach with a layered finish of spearmint, cherry pie, black tea and honey.

“This year, we are thrilled to donate a portion of the proceeds from the release to the Tennessee Beekeeper Association,” said Charlie Nelson, co-founder of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery. “The association supports beekeepers across the state with educational grants, trainings and awards to promote modern, scientific beekeeping. Without the bees producing this delicious honey, we couldn’t continue to make our Honey Cask Finish bourbon.”

Nelson Brothers Honey Cask Finish has a suggested retail price of $199, and will be available at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery in Nashville. The Honey Cask is limited to one bottle per person.
