Wyoming’s Pine Bluffs Distilling Launching Five New Whiskeys

Wyoming’s Pine Bluffs Distilling keeps it local, sourcing grains no more than 30 miles away from the distillery. And this summer, Pine Bluffs will celebrate the launch of five new products with a variety of events surrounding their keeping it local theme.

Chad Brown, owner of Pine Bluffs Distilling, said in a prepared statement that by sourcing local grains, “That’s how whiskey was meant to be made and that’s a tradition we want to uphold. We are proud that we can support local farmers and they continue to support us. This is truly a community celebration. I mean … whiskey and celebrating go hand-in-hand.”

Pine Bluffs Distilling will launch the five new whiskeys this summer across four weekends May through August at its distillery in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, about 40 miles from Cheyenne.

The five new whiskeys include Oat, Rye, Malted Wheat, Five Grain, and a special Single Barrel Uncut Rye. The new Five Grain and Uncut Single Barrel Straight Rye whiskeys will be available for purchase only at the distillery, and the others will start popping up on shelves across Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska as early as June.

Pine Bluffs described those whiskeys as:

Crafted with 20% malted white wheat, this bourbon is soft and light with an overall, smooth and easy-drinking appeal.

  • Mash bill of 60% corn, 20% barley, 20% wheat.

Aged two years, this whiskey has a little zip, a little spice, a little zing, and a lot of what a straight bourbon should be.

  • Mash bill of 60% corn, 20% rye, 20% malt.

Aged two years, this rye is a balance of dry-as-a-summer-on-the-plains and a sharp, spicy personality.

  • Mash bill of 70% rye, 15% malted white wheat, 15% malt.

Aged two years, this release made from oats is silky-smooth with a rich and creamy finish and a notable aroma of its origins.

  • Mash bill of 78% oats and 22% malt.

A smooth whiskey and a complex flavor profile that includes tastes of vanilla, toast, and biscuits.

  • Mash bill of 100% malted rye.

Each sip is the manifestation of how local ingredients can come together to make whiskey. Only one barrel every spring, making this an extremely limited release.

  • Mash bill of 20% rye, 20% corn, 20% oats, 20% malted white wheat, 20% malt.

The summer events planned for each whiskey launch are May 28th (Oat), June 27th (Straight Rye and Uncut Single Barrel Straight Rye), July 24th (Malted Wheat), and August 7th (Five Grain). Each launch event will feature a signature cocktail using the new product made specifically for that whiskey launch by Pine Bluffs Distilling in-house mixologist, KeeLee.
