Tasting Notes

About:

The Whisky Exchange Zodiac series builds its credibility through cask selection and this Dailuaine fits the Taurus brief well, grounded driven and unapologetically bold, with a young spirit that leans into weight and texture rather than finesse, showing how active wood and a robust distillate can come together early in maturation to create something with real presence.
Appearance:
Deep gold with flashes of amber, showing thick oils that cling to the glass before forming slow heavy legs.
Nose:
Vanilla pod and toffee sit at the front, followed by baked apple and roasted nuts, with a clear hit of oak spice that reflects both youth and cask activity, while the alcohol is present it remains clean and well integrated given the strength.
Palate:
Texture leads immediately, thick and oily with a sense of weight that fills the mouth, before moving into caramel ripe orchard fruit and a firm line of black pepper, the oak brings grip and structure holding the sweetness in place and preventing it from becoming loose or overly soft.
Finish:
Medium in length with sweet malt and warming spice carrying through, alongside a slight dryness from the oak that reinforces its structure.
Comments:
This is a whisky that leans into its strengths rather than hiding its youth, delivering power texture and direct flavour in a way that feels honest and deliberate, it will suit drinkers who enjoy cask strength whisky with presence and weight rather than subtlety or long aged refinement.
