Tasting Notes

About:

The Lasanta is a 15-Year-Old single malt from Highland distillery, Glenmorangie’s core range of expressions, matured in bourbon and sherry casks. Relaunched in 2025 with a 15-year age statement, The Lasanta was originally bottled as a 12-Year-Old expression and was one of Glenmorangie’s most popular bottlings. Glenmorangie’s Director of Whisky Creation Dr Bill Lumsden and Master Blender Gillian Macdonald were inspired to use older stocks and refine the cask recipe to make The Lasanta “even more deliciously complex”. Bottled at 43% ABV.
Appearance:
Dark rose gold.
Nose:
Spicy aromas open with cinnamon and festive spices, accompanied by a touch of sherry and dried fruits before notes of honeyed mead take over. There are also sweet notes of vanilla and chocolate alongside nuts, oak, and a touch of leather.
Palate:
Spices open on the palate, alongside quite a rich mouthfeel, with notes of cinnamon, clove, oak, and molasses before a touch of charcoal. Sweeter notes of chocolate coated nuts, toffee and vanilla follow, accompanied by a touch of sherry and leather.
Finish:
Medium length, with slightly drying with hints of orange marmalade, oak, sherry and dates. There’s a hint of salted caramel before the close.
Comments:
The Glenmorangie 15-Year-Old Lasanta expression is a pleasant easy drinking single malt with an older age statement offering a well balanced and layered experience between spices and sweetness. There are some pleasant well-defined notes, demonstrating a good balance between the sherry and bourbon cask influence and maturation.

Overall, I’d probably score the Glenmorangie 15-Year-Old Lasanta at 7.5 based on my own experience, but let’s be generous and score 8 out of 10. For a 15-year-old age statement whisky from a well-known brand, at the price point Glenmorangie’s Lasanta offers a value for money smooth and approachable experience to sherry cask maturation.
