Tasting Notes

About:

A limited release of 1200 bottles coming from the Glasgow Distillery Co. A rather lengthy full Port maturation has provided some wonderful flavour profiles from a distillery who is the apple of everyone’s eye.
Appearance:
Ruby Red
Nose:
Maraschino cherries, strawberry jam, milk chocolate, rose water, coconut biscuits, flat cherry coke
Palate:
Spiced fruit pudding in suet pastry. Cherries, cinnamon, dark chocolate, raspberries and red currants adding a little bitterness towards the middle of the taste. Sweet Italian vermouth, bitter orange, chocolate orange, sweet oak
Finish:
A big swell of spice from the ABV all managed by sweet red fruit notes that come through as raspberry, red currants and cranberries. The cranberry note adds to the spiciness and dryness from the barrel influences.
Comments:
Port isn’t normally my cask type. I’ve had great ones and I’ve had some really mediocre stuff, that always had this smell of a full bin in the heat (brands shall remain nameless). Luckily, this is a solid example, but what else would you expect from this distillery and this team? The whiskies are some of the best you can get your hands on.

Editor’s Note: This whiskey was either bought as a sample by The Whiskey Wash or provided to us as a review sample by the party behind it. Per our editorial policies, this in no way influenced the outcome of this review.
