Sebastian Jaeger splits his life between two worlds. By day, he works in public service for the state of Baden-Württemberg. Away from the office, he is a co-founder of Wu Dram Clan and Managing Director of Duckhammers GmbH.
Wu Dram Clan has become one of the most respected independent bottlers in Europe. Known for carefully chosen single casks of whisky, cognac, rum, armagnac, and even gin, the group has built a reputation for character, transparency, and passion.
For Jaeger, the real joy lies in discovery. “Many of our best bottlings were born this way: by accident, curiosity, and a bit of cheeky persuasion”.
From Friendship to Bottling Legacy
Wu Dram Clan began in 2017 as a project between friends. Jaeger, Boris from Munich, and Taksad from Kyoto bonded over a shared passion for exceptional spirits. What started as a hobby grew quickly into a respected name in independent bottling.
The group became known for single cask releases chosen for individuality and character. Their catalog now spans whisky, cognac, rum, armagnac, and gin. Each bottling is selected with care and bottled with the same commitment to honesty and quality that defines the brand.
A milestone came in 2018. Wu Dram Clan released the first ever independently bottled Lagavulin single cask in Europe. Jaeger remembers it as more than a proud moment. He calls it “a true milestone in the whisky geek scene”.
The Philosophy – Curiosity, Transparency, Character
For Jaeger, the joy of whisky lies in discovery. He describes his favorite moments as “warehouse rummage” sessions. “I turn into a giddy little treasure hunter, darting between casks like a kid in a sweet shop”. These unplanned finds often become Wu Dram Clan’s most memorable releases.
Curiosity shapes the brand. Instead of following fashion, Jaeger looks for casks that show honesty and depth. He believes a good whisky should never hide behind artifice. As he puts it, “I want tobacco, nuts, that creamy-cozy hug. So give me Bourbon casks, where the spirit’s DNA isn’t dressed up for a masquerade. Honest, classic, and pure”.
This belief in transparency has earned Wu Dram Clan a loyal following. Every release is bottled to reflect the true character of the spirit inside.
A Personal Taste Map
Jaeger’s personal choices reveal as much about him as his philosophy. At home, his “house whisky” is simple. “My house whisky? Easy: Cragganmore. If you ask me, nothing says ‘Scotch’ more lovingly than that”. For a smoky change, he turns to Ardbeg 10. His insider pick is Benromach 15, which he calls “the Springbank of Speyside”.
His affection also extends to American rye. He recalls acquiring a cache of old Van Winkles and Weller Ryes from the Lawrenceburg era. “These beauties from the ’80s weren’t rushed—they were mellow, patient, and crafted with soul”.

For Jaeger, the pinnacle remains Brora. Invited by Diageo to taste the Brora Triptych 1972, he describes it as “the whisky of my life. Some whiskies are drinks. That one’s a pilgrimage”.
Beyond the Bottle
Jaeger’s influence goes beyond Wu Dram Clan. Since 2021, he has worked as a consultant for Kirsch Import, focusing on French spirits and rare whisky. The role reflects his expertise in the collectible segment and his ability to navigate both tradition and innovation.
Home is near Strasbourg, between the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains. It is a tranquil wine region that balances culture, nature, and quality of life. From there, Jaeger continues his search for extraordinary casks, sharing them with enthusiasts around the world.
The Spirit of Discovery
Sebastian Jaeger is a seeker of stories hidden in casks. His approach is shaped by curiosity, honesty, and a belief that great spirits should never disguise their true character.
Wu Dram Clan reflects that vision. Each release shows the personality of the barrel and the passion of the people behind it. As Jaeger says of those warehouse discoveries, the best bottles “punch you in the soul and say, ‘Bottle me now’”.
For him, whisky is not just about taste. It is about discovery, connection, and the pursuit of unforgettable moments.
