Johnnie Walker Blue Label Just Dropped Under £130: Is It Worth Buying?

If you have been eyeing a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label as a treat for yourself or a serious gift for someone else, right now is a good moment to take a closer look. The bottle is currently showing at around £128.89 at Amazon UK, which lands it well under what you will pay almost everywhere else. We will walk you through how the price compares across UK retailers, whether the whisky suits your palate and your reason for buying, and the competition results that back it up.

How much is Johnnie Walker Blue Label, and is this a good price?

Start with the wider UK picture, because the saving only makes sense once you see where everyone else sits. Ocado lists Blue Label at around £160, The Whisky Exchange has it at around £164 with free UK standard delivery, and Waitrose Cellar sits at the top of the band at around £195.00. Against that spread, the Amazon UK price of about £128.89 is the clear outlier on the low side.

For a bottle that normally asks £160 or more, and pushes toward £195 at the pricier end, paying under £130 for a standard 70cl is a real saving, and Amazon currently lists it as in stock and sold directly. Prices on this bottle move daily, so it is worth checking the live figure before you commit, and stock at this level tends not to hang around for long.

Who Johnnie Walker Blue Label is for, and who might skip it

The profile is soft, polished and honeyed, with gentle smoke instead of a heavy peat hit. The official Johnnie Walker UK tasting notes describe an aroma of subtle pepper and spices, a palate of hazelnuts, citrus fruit, vanilla sweetness and honey, and a long smoky finish. When we reviewed it in 2024, we found it light, smooth, balanced and citrus-led, and surprisingly flavorful for a whisky bottled at 40% ABV.

This makes it an easy recommendation if you want a prestige Scotch gift, a very smooth sipping blend, or gentle smoke without a full Islay peat bomb. The vanilla, honey, caramel and orchard citrus notes give it broad appeal, and the polished, approachable character makes it a safer gift than many cask-strength or heavily peated malts.

It is honestly not for everyone. If you prioritize a high ABV, an age statement, or maximum flavor per pound, an age-stated single malt may serve you better. Blue Label carries no age statement and sits at 40% ABV, and some drinkers find it smooth and balanced without being especially distinctive at the price.

The awards behind Johnnie Walker Blue Label

For outside validation, the record is strong and recent. At the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Blue Label took Gold in 2022, 2023 and again in 2024. At the International Wine & Spirit Competition, it earned Spirit Gold in 2022 and a Spirit Silver in 2021. These results come from the competition bodies’ own listings and give you a solid, current benchmark of how the blend is judged against its peers.

All told, Blue Label under £130 is a strong window to grab a gift or a treat that would usually cost a good deal more. If you pick one up, tell us in the comments what you are planning to pour it for.
