Tasting Notes

About:

The 2024 edition of The Glenturret 12 Year Old core range expression, matured in American and European oak, with influences from both oloroso and Pedro Ximénez seasoned casks. Bottled at 46.4% ABV.
Appearance:
Bright Copper
Nose:
Rich sherried and dried fruits alongside vanilla and chocolate sweetness, balanced by ginger and cinnamon spice.
Palate:
Opens smooth on the palate with vanilla and sherry, giving way to slightly nutty chocolate and red berry and red currant fruit compote.
Finish:
A medium length warming finish, dominated by oaky spice, cinnamon, ginger, and sherry.
Comments:
A well-balanced sherry influenced whisky, with some spicy ginger and cinnamon notes. I’d have possibly liked to see the fruity notes be more pronounced, the wood influence is more discernible particularly the oaky spice on the finish.

I’ve previously sampled some past annual editions of The Glenturret 12 Year Old, and feel the 2024 batch offers more rich sherry and chocolate notes than past editions. Overall, an easy drinking non-chill filtered and natural colour whisky with a 12-year age statement.

Editor’s Note: This whiskey was either bought as a sample by The Whiskey Wash or provided to us as a review sample by the party behind it. Per our editorial policies, this in no way influenced the outcome of this review.
