It recently turned to a live online tasting event to help determine what limited cask release it wanted to put out for its fan base. The result was said to be a rather spectacular 26-year-old choice.

The Glengoyne Single Cask 2013 release heralds from a first fill European oak sherry cask. From this cask enough Scotch was available to allow only 339 bottles to be filled at 55.1 percent alcohol by volume. It is heralded as being a collector’s item for fans of this distillery, and prices out at a rather hefty $570 USD.

Tasting notes from the distillery for this bright golden spirit indicate on the nose hints of brambles, chocolate, rum and raisin ice cream and lemon peel. On the palate one is supposed to experience sweet honey and eucalyptus, then oily lemon, giving way to a finish that’s long with a suggestion of copper.
