Bowmore Tempest VIf the thought of ponying up $27,000 for a 50-year-old Bowmore Scotch is not quite what your piggy bank is capable of, there are some other more recent choices from this popular Scottish distillery you can consider. One of these is the new Tempest V, which is the fifth batch of a popular whisky aged for a decade in first-fill bourbon casks.

Tempest V, according to Bowmore, is “a true product of it’s environment with the salty ocean breeze and signature dark Islay peat detectable in every mouthful.” It is non-chill filtered and laid at rest for its ten years of slumber in the distillery’s hallowed No. 1 vault.

Pricing around $80 a bottle, this limited edition, 55.9% ABV expression’s tasting notes are found below.

On the eye deep gold.

Breathe in white peaches, nectarines and juicy cassis with fresh lime.

Sip a wave of vanilla, juicy bursts of mandarin, tangy lime and cassis.

Savour rippling layers of nectarine and bourbon vanilla on a salty ocean breeze.
