bowmoresbThe last time I looked in on new releases from the popular Scottish distillery Bowmore, it had just released a 50 year old expression costing nearly $27,000 a bottle. We now travel back to this venerable whisky institution for a much more mundane release, known as Bowmore Small Batch.
Small Batch, as the distillery explains it, is a “perfect combination of flavours that encapsulate scotch from the Southern Isles.” To get to this place, the non-age statement whisky was first matured in first and second-fill ex-bourbon casks before being blended together.

Tasting notes for this gold color whisky, bottled at 45 percent ABV, are below from the distillery.

Nose: vanilla fudge, sea air and peat smoke, balanced beautifully by honeycomb and cinnamon spice.

Palate: mouth-watering citrus, gentle saltiness and vanilla with flakes of coconut.

Finish: wispy smoke, bourbon vanilla and lime.
