Pumpkin Spice Whiskey Barrel-Aged Iced Latte Debuts From Starbucks (Why?)

Pumpkin spice lattes aren’t exactly the type of thing we cover here at The Whiskey Wash, but the mention of a new variant of this extremely popular beverage from uber coffee chain Starbucks has caught our attention.

What’s being called the Pumpkin Spice Whiskey Barrel-Aged Iced Latte was announced today by Starbucks as part of a celebration of 20 years of PSL. The one catch to enjoying one of these (if you must) is they will only be available at the six Starbucks Reserve stores across the United States.

“This fall Starbucks Reserve is embracing the spirit of innovation and the craft of coffee as we welcome the iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte to celebrate its 20th anniversary,” said Beatriz Pardo, vice president, Starbucks Reserve, in a prepared statement. We’re excited to showcase the artistry of Starbucks Reserve coffee craft with the new beverages and immersive coffee experiences. This season, Starbucks Reserve will be the destination for unforgettable memories that bring us together for moments of connection over coffee and the joy of fall flavors.”

As for what exactly the Pumpkin Spice Whiskey Barrel-Aged Iced Latte is, it is noted by the brand as follows:

Starbucks Reserve espresso combined with Whiskey Barrel-Aged coffee, and delectable pumpkin spice sauce, with your choice of milk poured over ice and finished with Starbucks Reserve Whiskey Barrel-Aged whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin-pie spices.

Joining this creation on a special 20th anniversary menu will be Starbucks Reserve Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini, alongside the new Pumpkin Maritozzo and Pumpkin Spice Cake. The menu will also include the Hazelnut Bianco Latte and Toffeenut Bianco Latte (at select locations).
