Tasting Notes

About:

The Triple Cask II is a blend of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskeys, aged 8 & 16 years finished in an experimental combination of cognac, rum, and apple brandy casks.
Appearance:
Marigold
Nose:
The initial aroma is a delightful mix of candied apple and cinnamon, reminiscent of a baked cinnamon apple. The influence of the rum cask introduces a hint of molasses, enriching the bouquet without overpowering the subtler scents.
Palate:
The flavor journey begins with the sweetness of a carnival candy apple, vividly sugared and satisfying. This merges subtly into a backdrop where the high ABV is cleverly masked, delivering the essence without the expected ethanol punch. The taste is front-loaded, engaging primarily the front and mid palate.
Finish:
The finish is concise, lingering just enough to leave a pleasing aftertaste of candied apple. It’s an approachable end to the tasting experience, not veering into complexity but rather maintaining a clear, consistent flavor profile through to the last note.
Comments:
This whiskey exemplifies a masterful blend of aging and finishing, where the casks contribute distinctly to the flavor profile without introducing harshness or undue complexity. It’s an excellent choice for those appreciating a whiskey that offers a significant taste experience yet remains accessible and enjoyable throughout.
