Tasting Notes

About:

97 Proof (48.5% ABV) Mash bill consisting of 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye and at 140 proof, unaged whiskey is mellowed drop by drop through 10-feet of sugar maple charcoal before entering into the barrel. 10 years old, and $70.00 for a 750 ML bottle. Lynchburg, Tennessee.
Appearance:
Rich deep amber, like looking through burnt sugar glass.
Nose:
Banana and stewed figs mix pleasantly with oak, balanced and not overwhelming.
Palate:
Classic banana flavor blends with raisins and a caramel soda flavor reminiscent of Mexican coke.
Finish:
Comments:
It would be easy to say ‘this isn’t the Jack I had in college’, or ‘this one doesn’t need a mixer and you could just pour it over your pancakes!’. This deserves more than that. This is not what I was expecting, it’s distinctive and stands alone. It’s high proof but not hot, it’s soft, rolls over the tongue, and the finish has a lot to say. This small town in Tennessee makes a big impact once again
