As the craft whiskey industry continues to mature, it is beginning to become more common now to see some of these distilleries debuting bottled in bond expressions. One of the latest of these is out of Brooklyn, New York, and they have two whiskeys said to fit the criteria for being bonded.

Breuckelen Distilling has been distilling since 2010, so it easily makes sense they would have whiskey meeting the age criteria for bottled in bond. The first of their two new offerings, and the more interesting, is a wheated bourbon called Project No. 1. This bourbon was fermented from a mash of 60% corn, 20% red wheat, and 20% malted barley, all of which are New York sourced (the malted barley was handled by Valley Malt in Hadley, Massachusetts). This whiskey was distilled twice up to 150 proof before being aged for four years in 53 gallon barrels.
