Still Austin Introduces A Cask Strength Rye Whiskey

Texas’ Still Austin Whiskey Co. recently announced the release of their Cask Strength Rye Whiskey.

A statement from the whiskey maker notes that this is a new version of their San Francisco World Spirits Competition’s Double Gold-winning rye, “The Artist.”

The barrel-proof whiskey comes from 100% Texas rye, and it clocks in at 116 proof. This is Still Austin’s second cask strength whiskey to be released.

Nancy Fraley, Still Austin’s master blender, said, “Words cannot adequately convey just how exceptional I think the first release of this product is coming out the door.”

Her blender’s notes show that this cask strength rye is a more aromatically intense version of The Artist, and it features aromas of cherry cobbler, candied ginger and lemon peels, and apricot streusel coffee cake.

On the palate, she said, there are flavors of grilled peaches with mint ice cream, apple and marzipan dumplings, and gingerbread cookies with lemon zest.

“The release of this whiskey marks an important milestone in our business trajectory, as we round out the Still Austin family of spirits,” said Chris Seals, Still Austin CEO and co-founder. “Our flagship spirits are redefining how the world sees Texas whiskey. For the last two years, our Cask Strength Bourbon has won Double Gold, and we’re proud to put our Cask Strength Rye next to it on the shelf.”

The bottle features custom artwork from Texas artist and Marc Burckhardt. It’s a version of the artwork seen on “The Artist” bottle, with an added dark night sky to emphasize the darker, stronger whiskey version of the original.

Still Austin’s Cask Strength Rye Whiskey has a suggested retail price of $65, and is now available online in most states through reservebar.com and at www.stillaustin.com.

Still Austin Whiskey Co. was founded in 2015, and is a true grain-to-glass distillery. All their spirits are hand-made using grains grown by Texas farmers. They focus on sustainability by cutting carbon emissions, returning spent grains to local ranchers to feed their animals, and operating their distillery  designed for energy efficiency and water conservation.
