Noble Oak Spirits Company launched in 2017 and is a collaboration with Edrington of Scotland, better known for their portfolio of such world-renowned spirit brands as Macallan, The Famous Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky, and No. 3 London Dry Gin.
Since the very beginning, the Newtown, Ohio based Noble Oak Spirits Company has been in partnership with the nonprofit One Tree Planted. As displayed on each bottle, Noble Oak’s mission is to plant one tree for every bottle. According to the brand’s website, they have committed to planting 754,564 trees in multiple deforested locations from coast to coast across the US. As of an August 2022 online Forbes article, Noble Oaks has planted over 390,000 so far, and they have projects involving the planting of another 180,000 trees already in the works, according to Noble Oak’s brand manager Jack Bauer.
“Back in 2017, we chose a tree planting organization to partner with because trees, especially white oak trees, are essential to our planet and the whiskey making process,” Bauer said in a blog post on the One Tree Planted site. “The interaction between the whiskey and the wood accounts for 70% of our whiskey’s flavor and 100% of its color. As whiskey makers we are very thankful for trees, and we have a goal of giving back to the planet and our consumers, more than we take away.”
At 96 proof, Noble Oak Double Oak Rye consists of a high-rye mash bill and goes through a double oak maturation process where it’s aged in charred new American white oak barrels for a minimum of one year before finishing in port wine oak cask staves. The distillation process for Noble Oak Whiskey is done at a partner location in Indiana and then sent to Brain Brew Distillery in Ohio for finishing.
Noble Oak Double Oak Rye awards include winning 97 points in the Extraordinary Ultimate Recommendation category of the 2020 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, Gold at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Challenge, and Gold at the 2021 Sip Awards, to name a few.
