Meet The Bottler

Bartels Whisky is a UK-based independent bottler, hand-selecting only the finest single malt whisky casks for our Highland Laird label.

An award-winning Scotch whisky brand, Highland Laird was relaunched by Bartels Whisky in 2013. The range focuses primarily on exceptional single-cask bottlings and has featured whisky from more than 30 distilleries across Scotland. No cask is ever the same making our releases truly limited edition.

Each release is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, preserving the whisky’s authentic character, depth and individuality. Most are bottled at cask strength, allowing the full flavour and complexity of each carefully selected cask to shine through.

Whisky in its purest form.

From The Brand

Do you focus primarily on single cask releases or do you have a dedicated blending program?

Our primary focus is to bottle single cask, cask strength, single malt scotch.

Where do your casks mature, and how much control do you have during maturation?

Our casks are matured at varying locations across Scotland, with the large majority being in the lowland. These locations allow us further control over our maturation and finishing processes.

What makes your brand stand out in an increasingly crowded and competitive independent bottling landscape?

Our focus has always been no gimmicks, just a high quality product at an affordable price. We have a large variety of stock to call upon and love to release whisky from less common or dare we say underrated distillieries, that you might not normally find as a single malt.

Is value-for-money a core metric when you are deciding which casks to buy and bottle?

Our number 1 metric – we want everyone to be able to drink our whisky!

Why We Built This Directory

Every listing in The Whiskey Wash directory of independent bottlers is free and non-commercial. No bottler pays to be included, and nobody can pay for a better spot.

We built it because we love whisky, and independent bottlers are some of the most interesting people in it. They find the casks distilleries never release themselves, take chances on unusual finishes and keep the names of lost distilleries on the shelf.

Nothing like it has existed since ScotchWhisky.com closed. This is our attempt to fill that gap and introduce drinkers to the people behind the casks.
